Bird Hike

​Join us to explore Lindsay Wilderness. Discover different bird species during a mile hike starting at the South Entrance of Lindsay in Bonaparte. This mile hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. This trail is gravel and in timber so proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. We have a limited number of binoculars available if you don't have your own. 
Common birds on this hike may include black capped chickadee, northern cardinal, White breasted nuthatch, and red bellied woodpecker.

Bird Hike

Join us for a hike at Morris Park to explore and discover various bird species found in our local habitat. This hike will start at the hiking trail near the shelter. This mile hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. We have a limited number of binoculars available if you don't have your own. 
​Common birds seen on this hike may include black capped chickadee, northern cardinal, American goldfinch, and Downy woodpecker.

Join us for a hike at Lacey Keosauqua Beach House Lodge to explore and discover various bird species found in our local habitat. This 2-mile hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. This trail is gravel and in timber so proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. We have a limited number of binoculars available if you don't have your own. 
Common birds seen on this hike may include black capped chickadee, northern cardinal, dark eyed junco, and Downy woodpecker.

Spring Flora Hike

Join us at Lacey Keosauqua Beach House for a hike to discover the different flora found in timbers of Van Buren County. This mile hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. This trail is gravel and in timber so proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. We will be looking at different flora throughout the lake trail and discuss about what types of places they are found in. Common flora include dutchman's breeches, blood root, spring beauties, prairie trillium, and rue anemone.

Spring Flora Hike

Join us at Morris Park for a hike to discover the different flora found in timbers of Van Buren County. This hike will start at the trail near the shelter. This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. 
This mile hike will have various terrain from moderate to difficult. We will be looking for different flora throughout the trail and discussing what types of places they are found in. Common flora may include dutchman's breeches, blood root, spring beauties, Jack in the pulpit, and rue anemone. ​

Prairie Hike

Explore various prairie plants while hiking with us through Lake Sugema Wildlife area. This mile hike will cover various terrain from moderate to difficult. This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire, sunscreen and bug spray is recommended. ​ We will meet at the loop parking lot off of the Lake Sugema dam.  Common flora may include Wild bergamot, slender mountain mint, common milkweed, white wild indigo, and swamp milkweed.

Directions from Keosauqua: 
Follow Highway 1 South for 2.1 miles then turn right on to 240th St. for 1 mile, turn left onto Lark Ave. for 1 mile, 
 and turn right onto 250th St. 0.9 miles. 

Prairie Hike

Explore various prairie plants while hiking with us through Bentonsport Wildlife area. This hike covers various terrain from moderate to difficult. This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire, sunscreen and bug spray is recommended. ​ This mile hike will be held at the prairie on top of the hill off of Ridge Road. Common flora may include Wild bergamot, slender mountain mint, black eyed susan, gray headed coneflower, cup plan, white wild indigo, and swamp milkweed.

Geology Hike

Join us at Ely Ford’s Lacey Keosauqua State Park for a guided hiking tour along the river to discover the natural beauty of the bluffs and rock formation. This trail is gravel and in timber so proper hiking attire, sunscreen and bug spray is recommended. This mile long hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. We will be looking at different rock formations and discuss different rock types.
