Join us at Lake Sugema Wildlife Area campgrounds to view the night sky. This guided program is about discovering different star patterns and constellations. If you have a telescope you are encouraged to bring your own.

Have you ever wanted to try Dutch oven cooking? Join us at Lake Sugema campgrounds to learn the basics of Dutch oven cooking and how to prepare meals for future camping adventures. Remember to bring a camping chair this event to sit around the campfire. Bug spray is recommended. Kids 10 and under must be accompanied by a guardian. This event will be held in the non-reservable campsites at Lake Sugema.

Join us at Lacey-Keosauqua Main Lodge. Cherie Haury-Artz from the University of Iowa Archaeology department will be talking about how hunting was a vital resource for Ancestral Native Americans. Besides essential nutrition deer and bison provided raw materials for tools and string to musical instruments and artwork.

University of Iowa At Home in Iowa: The Archaeology of Homes in the 19th and 14th Century
Join us at Lacey Keosauqua Main Lodge. Cherie Haury-Artz from the University of Iowa Archaeology department will be comparing objects and features found during archaeological excavations from 19th century dairy farmstead in eastern Iowa and a 14th century ancestral Native American earth lodge home in Western Iowa.

Explore Lake Sugema Prairie to tag monarch butterflies. This guided program is to discover monarchs’ life cycle and the trip butterflies take south. This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire, and bug spray is recommended. We will meet at Lake Sugema Campground near the non-reservable sites.
